OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
We highly recommend you complete a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) before commencing any work onsite.
You can access a free SWMS template on the Masters Builders Association of Victoria website (mbav.com.au) or on the Work Safe Victoria website (worksafe.vic.gov.au).
Any incident that occurs onsite must be reported immediately to our site contact.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE & PPE
High standards of dress, grooming, and personal cleanliness are vital to uphold yours and our company image. When working on any of our sites you are expected to present a clean and neat appearance. In some cases we may provide you with a company branded top or vest; if this is the case you are expected to wear this at all times onsite.
In addition to this you must ensure you are wearing the required personal protective equipment relevant to your task. SITE CLEANLINESS
Each contractor is responsible for cleaning up after themselves; this includes keeping the site free of rubbish and being swept or preferably vacuumed when leaving.
Most domestic renovation sites (The Inside Project sites) will have bins onsite for the disposal of small debris. You must take any large items with you when leaving.
Commercial building sites (InstallEx sites) will have varying arrangements for disposal of rubbish; please ask us if you are unclear.
Deductions for cleaning or rubbish removal may be incurred otherwise.
If storing any materials or tools onsite please ensure they are in a safe & secure location.
It is a Work Safe requirement that all electrical equipment connected to the electrical supply by a flexible cord and/or connecting device requires testing in every type of Workplace.
You must ensure all your electrical equipment and tools on site are safe to use for the work being undertaken and regularly inspect and maintain all equipment. This will involve employing the services of an electrical contractor to test and tag all of your electrical equipment on a regular basis as per relevant legislation.
At all times when onsite you are representing our business. Swearing and inappropriate language or behavior onsite will not be tolerated and termination of the contract may apply if complaints are made.
DRUGS, ALCOHOL & SMOKING
Drugs & alcohol are not accepted on site under any circumstances. In addition anyone found under the influence of drugs or alcohol whilst on site will be immediately removed from site and their contract will be terminated.
Smoking is prohibited within all buildings onsite. In addition if you are working within a client’s home it is appropriate to move away from the perimeter of the home if smoking.
You are expected to arrive on site at the agreed start time. If you are delayed for any reason you must notify the contact you have been given. If you do not arrive on site and give no notification or continue to arrive late to site without notification your contract may be terminated.
When entering a site you must introduce yourself and explain who you are and what you are there to do. This applies if the client is another principal contractor or a home owner.
If you are working in a client’s home please remember a renovation is an invasive experience.
Put yourself in the client’s shoes and ask yourself how you would like your home treated by tradespeople. For example if you use anything in the home, like the bathroom, it must be left clean.
This also applies to any pets that may be housed at the job site. Please respect the client’s instructions but also ensure they are not causing any work health or safety risk. If you believe this is the case please discuss with our site contact.
OTHER TRADES WORK
Other trades people may have completed works before you arrive, please treat those works as you would like yours to be treated.
If you see an element of workmanship that you believe is not up to standard, report it immediately to our site contact. Under no circumstances discuss this with the client as this can provide unnecessary stress on the client and will undermine your fellow trades.
If it is found that you have damaged works or products a deduction will occur for the repair / replacement works or products.
If several trades have been onsite prior to the damage and no trade takes responsibility for the damage, a deduction will be made sharing the repair / replacement costs between all trades that had been onsite prior.
